Meet The Resident Artist: Susan Crawford

Meet one of our resident artists, Susan Crawford!

Inspired by the beauty of nature and winsome words encountered everywhere, Susan has created works for calligraphy exhibits, painted book cover and text, illustrations, and designed everything from greeting cards and certificates to library wall displays and outdoor signs. “The goal for any of my designs is to create a pleasing and intriguing over all impact that draws the viewer in to discover delicious details only to be found by being involved enough to take a closer look.”

As a member of several Ohio calligraphy guilds, her pieces have been exhibited in Cleveland, Akron, and Columbus. 

Her work has been featured locally at The Little Art Gallery of the North Canton Public Library, and the McKinley Museum. Along with persistent practice and exploration of a variety of tools and medium, Susan developed her penmanship and artistic skills by observing the technique of many accomplished lettering artist through calligraphy guild workshops. Eager to share what she learned from these enriching experiences, Susan has taught calligraphy classes for both adults and young people.

Come to the gallery Friday and Saturday between 1:00 and 6:00pm to see some of her beautiful creations alongside those from our feature artist Chris Benavides and many others!
