Anna Rather
Anna has been working in the art field all her life, feeling she was born with a paintbrush in her hand. She grew up
going to art classes at the Glassell School of Art in Houston, Texas and attended the High School for the Performing and
Visual Arts. She earned a B.F.A. from the University of North Texas, an M.A. from Ball State University, and an M.F.A. from the San Francisco Art Institute all in printmaking and painting. She works in a very broad variety of mediums including painting, printmaking, digital photography and others.
"I have many styles, from totally abstract, to an emotional diary realized in imagery rather then the written word. My work used to consist of imagery of the ocean in combination with my total imagination, color, and design. I look at my old work for inspiration to create new, and more successful images. I choose dark colors for moody elements and bright colors to contrast with them. I also use layering by viscosity, multiple plates, and imagery to create depth and detail."
Since she moved to Minerva, Anna's work has been exhibited at the Market Street Art Spot, Canton Museum of Art, Jupiter Studios, and Second April Galerie.
